The trailhead feels different at the start and end of a hike as the time spent in between those two moments in time inevitably change you. I also wanted to hint at the disappointment felt when you charge out into the unknown, seeking escape from all things human, and you stumble upon the edge of “nature” as a building comes into sight. Perhaps the trail was not as wild as you thought it was. Does it still count then? Must all of our wild spaces be surrounded by humanity?
