The Winters After Print
I took myself on a little painting retreat to my aunties-in-laws’ cabin near Grand Lake, CO in March. I needed some fresh air and a new perspective. It is impossible to ignore the confronting views of recent fire damage in this area as the 2020 East Troublesome Fire scorched the scenic vistas surrounding the lake.
I took some hikes. Everywhere I looked the quiet winter snows rendered the charred trees in distinct inky contrast to the bleached canvas of the hillsides. Black lines fell over each other in endlessly zig-zagging patterns, sending the periwinkle tones of cast shadows on snow soaring beneath the piles. The winters after fire are both ghostly and beautiful as the lifeless landscape sleeps in preparation for a rush of new life. I couldn’t not paint it.
The original was painted with acrylic and gouache on panel.
PRINT DETAILS:
- This is an archival print of my original painting.
- Each print is signed on the front.
- All of my prints are produced with professional art materials including pigment-based inks and archival Somerset Velvet fine art paper.
-In order to keep your print in great condition it is important to frame with archival materials (mats, backing board, etc.), keep out of direct sunlight, and UV glass if you really want to go all-out!
SIZE:
- Paper is larger than the listed size, as there is a ~1.25" white border around the actual image to enable easier matting, or float mounting to display the deckled edges of the paper.
- Image itself is shrunk down ~1/4" from size listed to expose signature line when matted or framed in the corresponding standard sized mat/frame.
